Hello,

After looking at the Downtube bikes, I have confirmed with Yan that the VIII comes with fenders and a rack, but the FS model which is the one that I am keen on does not. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make an FS model a more functional commuter?

You could check and see if fenders sold through Gaerlan for Dahons will work or contact Downtube directly and see if fenders and racks are sold as accessories or are off the shelf items easily acessible .

I have the FS and bought a rear rack that attaches to the seat tube. The rack is not very large, but does it's job for me. This particular rack comes with an extension, that serves as fender:
