Recumbent - Long rides on a Rans Rocket?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I really, really want a bent but as of yet I do not own one. Hopefully by next summer I can save up some cash and hit the road on one. Well anyway I have tested several bents this summer and have fell in love with the rans rocket, with one of the reasons being the cost of $900.00
My question ....Has anyone done a long tour such as RAGBRAI or other long ride on a Rocket? Was it road worthy for such a tour and would you recommend it for such a ride. I know the rear suspension models would probably be better suited but again I am attracted to the price tag of the Rocket.
How about Rocket riders of the world tell me what you think
:) :) :) :)

I've owned a V-Rex and now own a Rocket. I find it very comfortable for long rides. I know of Rocket owners who have ridden them on centuries, touring, etc. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't. It's set up to receive a rack/panniers for touring or you could pull a BOB. The seat is totally comfortable. I love my Rocket and plan to use it for longer and longer rides! Go to www.roadbikereview.com to read some reviews by other Rocket owners. It's a great all around 'bent!

I've ridden my rocket all day long, no computer so I don't know miles but estimate 60 in a day. Its like sitting in a recliner at home. usually hang a backpack on back of seat (secure it with a carbinger) :) I can just go and go on the rocket like the energiser bunny.

I have been following a travelogue of a tourist on a Rans Rocket:
Pretty interesting, a good read and sounds like he didn't have problems with comfort on his Rans Rocket

Thank you for posting that web site! What a fascinating experience. I will enjoy reading about Larry's adventure for days to come! It is very inspiring, to say the least!
