Temperatures were 37 C (that's body temperature for you Farenheit types) and sometimes nearer 40 C for the stage.
De La Fuente had a long escape with one other rider for awhile, and then alone, but was caught with about 20 Km to go. He had gained as much as six minutes, but in the end was passed by Gorka Gonzales and Kohl on the Cat 2 climb near the end. They were joined by Aitor Osa, who then attacked.
Those three were passed by Bertagnolli and McGee, who were joined soon after by Flecha with less than 4 Km to go. That was the order when they finished.
Leaders overall after two stages are McGee, Bertagnolli +22", and Flecha +31"
