I just rode the san jose velodrome for the first time ever, well, the first time i've ever been to a velodrome, it was very nice and i recomend it to any bay area folks thinking about it. Go on saturday mornings for beginner sessions, to qualify for races on weds and fri nights, and for good exercise! 8:30-11:30. Twas much fun, 2 legit track racers were there, along with the instructor person in charge, and like 6 other newbies like myself.
Sounds great. What kind of drills did they have do?

sounds cool. what are the bike requirements at hellyer (brakeless, track drops)? their website (http://www.ridethetrack.com/Beginners.htm) doesn't say what they mean by "track bike".

nice.. I'd like to get into that too, but I just bought a new bike and I've got brakes on it. I don't see a proper brakeless track bike coming my way for a little while.
