I'm currently planning a 4 week cycling trip on the Southern Island of NZ. One of the legs would be from Te Anau to Milford Sound. In order to avoid a 120 km return ride to Te Anau, I'd like to know if it's possible to ride from Milford Sound to Glenorchy (on the north side of Lake Wakatipu) using the "Routeburn Track" that leaves the SH94 near the Hollyford turn off? Important "detail": we will be riding a tandem with a full set of panniers, which is obviously less manoeuvrable than a mountain bike would be.
