Mountain Biking - Is this FSR worth $700

Alright, for one this bike new would cost around like 1000, right? And its now a year old, and they are still charging more than its worth. The stock components on the bike really, well aren't decent quality. While the suspension design is good, the bike itself isn't. Personally I am not a fan of any f/s bike with a price tag under 1,250, because at that point you start getting quaility stuff for the money.

So, if i got this brand new from a bike shop, with full waranty and everything. I can get it for a deal for $900. Would that be worth it? It would be with the specs above, but the 2002 version.

1 year old a ridden with no warranty. They should start at 50% and you should haggle. Their starting price is too high. This bike isn't high end enough to maintain a decent price. If it were a high end bike it could retain some value due to the quality of parts.

thanks again. Yet another save from getting ripped. Don't know what I do w/o you. Do you think it's worth to get it brand new? With the whole lifetime warranty? I can get it for $900 at my LBS + infinite tuneups for a year..?

Lifetime warranty. Ask one question. If I go a little extreme (say a 5ft drop) and I break the frame is it covered? This is a trick question but seriously 900$ new is a good bike. That works out to hmmm 1400 canadian. That gives you a lot of choices in a bike.

Interesting point. I contacted a UK insurance company and asked them a similar thing, that given the fact that a mountain bike has an automatic risk factor, namely the moniker 'mountain-bike' implies a greater potential for damage that a road bike, say, would not normally be exposed to. The mmmm'd and ahhh'd and basically said, they don't know what decision they'd make about a damaged frame. That puzzles me, and apart from the obvious incident such as theft, I don't know if the all-encompassing policy is really worth going for.

Do give you some comparison, I saw a new 2001 Specialized Enduro for $1000.00 US at a LBS this spring. A bike far superior to the one you were looking at. Try E-bay, you can get some killer deals for $750.00.

Well, those bikes were on e-bay. LoL. Anyways found another one for $575. Mavic X-221 rims,Ritchey post and spec evolution seat,Speed Dial Avid 1.9L levers,Shimano Deore XT rear and LX front,Stronge Arm 2 Cranks and Demension pedals,Fox racing shock rear and Manitou front shocks.
Highly thinking of getting this.......
