[Mods: i cross-posted this to Road forum to cast a wider net. If that's against the rules, delete (sorry!)]

Hi all. I'm moving into (du/tri)athlon next season (i'm a runner). I have an '02 Cannondale R700 that
i use for cross training. I want to buy clip-on aerobars and then get properly fitted for Du/Tri on the
R700 (i'm not getting a TT/Tri frame just yet). What are some of the better NYC shops for this, and
what do they charge?

R&A Cycles -- $150 to $200 is what they told me.
Sid's -- ???
Toga/Gotham -- ???
Signature Cycles (Asphalt Green) -- ???

Any others? I've checked the forum archives, but i'm wondering what the latest word is.

Thanks!

Paul the Owner of Signature cylces is a great guy, with excellent reputation as a fitter. He's a good rider himself, which I think helps.

There is this guy, Craig Upton (I think that's how his name is spelled) who is the current Central Park TT record holder. Something like 13 min and change (per lap) on the two-lap time trials they have once in a while early Sundays at the park. He fits himself and a bunch of other guys - all with excellent aero positions and quite comfortable at that. I can't give you his coordinates right now, but try http://www.nyvelocity.com

He's somehow involved with the site, I guess. Also try to google his name and something is going to come out. I think he charges $200 for a fitting session. Again - I don't know the guy, but I've seen his setups...very good. On this same website, there's a blog section where a guy posts regularly about his TT training and equipment (as welll as other stuff) he has some before/after pictures. Hope this helps.

I asked my friend who lives in Brooklyn - she got a new bike and got fitted earlier this year (and did her lifetime best at Ironman Canada). She sings this guy's praises, for sure. Here's her response to my/your question...

He does bike fittings but isn't associated with a bike shop......he works at a tri shop, JackRabbit Sports in Park Slope. They may sell tri bars, and Jon definitely does fittings. Jonathan Blyer is the full name!
