Ok I know that I'm the new guy here................

I've noticed that on most all the pictures of ya'lls bikes, the seats are pretty low. Are most of you folks short legged, or do I have mine adjusted wrong. I've got it to where my leg will be slightly bent when I'm at the bottom of my spin. Have I missed a trail seceret?

Seat hight depends on how you ride. Dh, fr bikes usually have the seats lower so you can move about on your bike more, keeps it out of the way when you have to get your butt off the back and for the most part you are rarely sitting and lowers your center of gravity.

I ride my seat really low on technical rides or decending. On straight xc I raise it to optimum height. (as for the Cortina I doubt there is much pedaling involved when riding that beast. It is mostly gravity induced)

And yes I spend part of my ride adjusting my seat :)

Sweet Kona DBD... From Chatsworth? Are you close to Big Bear?

J.P.,
We are about 2hrs from BB. The winter series though is held in Fontana, about 45 min from here.

Very nice, palooka! My guess is that it weighs about 22 lbs.:D

Your bike is sweet too, WoodyUpstate.

Thanks guys :)

Rich, nice Trek. I really like those wheels. As far as the ride on the Giant, I really really like it. Very stiff, but tubeless takes the sting off the trail quite a bit. Climbs are where I really like it :)

A2, why did ya sell the Specialized?? :) What do you ride now? Yeah, it's fall and I need to rake! Damnit :)

Cycle, i think it's close to 22 lbs. Not really sure. The best I have to weigh it is a bathroom scale, and it's not very accurate so I haven't bothered. But it's light enough for me. Feels very nimble.

Woody, very cool Giant. I almost bought the NRS

Thats a flash bike you got there!

I've wanted a Hei Hei frame for a while now, but I gave up in the search for one in 18"

I could tell you where to find one in BC. They would even ship. But then again I live within 2hrs of the largest kona dealer in North America. :)

Cove bikes. They sell either their own models (Cove) or Kona. www.covebike.com

I would be really surprised if they couldn't hook you up in some way. If not right away I am sure they can find something. You will have to go to the site, get the phone number and call. Their online purchasing has been down for months. They are stand up guys and very hardcore. They helped me in every way possible.

Best of luck

Also, have you tried Kona directly. They do deal with non dealers at times and usually have a decent backstock of product.

Bummer. I called earlier and they can't get their hands on a Hei Hei.

Turns out that Cove makes a ti hardtail called the "Hummer", which is essentially the same bike as the Hei Hei...but I wanted a KONA!

Oh well. If it's meant to be, one will come along.

Cove makes quality bikes on par (some say better) than kona. There designs ARE kona but made and stamped by Cove. :)..

Sorry to hear that, if they can't help second hand may be it.

I had a very hard time to find the 18in Hei Hei. Finally found one in very good condition. It is now my pride and joy. The only downside is that I know I will never be good enough for her. :D

Check out the old skool M900 cranks!

And my wife's even older 16.5inch Hei Hei. I simply could not not buy it. The Hei Hei is a very beautiful ride.

Hey Zech,

You're Hei hei is looking waaay smart :D How are you finding the Avid Arch V brakes? My Mags are much much better than the LX V-brakes I used to have.

During that race the photo was taken at, by the last few laps, the prospect of cycling up the next hill was daunting...but the Hei Hei, floated effortlessley up them....I guess it goes to show that the bike can have alot of input into your riding ability.

Cheers

Rich

p.s. Can I use your photo for my collection of Hei Hei's on my website? Pretty please :D

The Cove Hummer got great reviews in MTBR magazine. It's sloping toptube screams Canadian techincal singletrack abilities, and if I had the cash I'd go for one at the drop of a hat.

If you can't find a Hei Hei, then go for the Cove....as Maelstrom says, it's the equal, if not better than the Hei Hei.

Just my 2p's

Hiya Rich,

Those are the Mrazek MOC V+ brakes. Very simple and few moving parts. And light as anything. Claimed 105gms (without pads). Almost half of the XTRs. Not tried anything extreme but it works pretty good for me. Same design as the Marinovative brakesets. Almost similar to the XTR in feel. Best thing is that nobody I know owns it. :)

Sure - use the photos. Also check out

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/zeck_lim/lst?.dir=/My+Kona&.src=ph&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/

for closeups and a better quality pic.

You would be quite familiar with the fork - Pace RC35 with the Titanium Stage 2 kit. Way sexy.

cheerios, zeck
ps. I will send you the "after" pics when I change to a rigid tomm.

What good is a clean mountain bike? I always like to find something to get dirty in on the trail... Except during races! Check this shot out from this years 24 hours of Adrenaline at Kelso... 13kg bike quickly expands to 30kg with all the mud!
