Mountain Biking - Mountain Bike Photo's

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Now that we have the chance to put our bikes on here, I thought I'd start off with my Trek 8500...
Does anyone else have photo's of their bikes out there to share?
Rich :)

Hey Rich,
I like black bikes!, just like Henry Ford said, "i like al colors, as long it`s black"
The little chainwheel on the backbones of your bike ? What's the meaning of it and did you have advantage of he device or not?
Just curious,

Hey Rich...Nice bike.
I have a simple homepage which shows my bike.
The address is http://members.aol.com/atlcitizen/index.html for anybody who is interested in checking it out.
Hi Tool freak and Joe!!!
Yeah, the little gizmo on my chain stay is called a DCD, and although I don't ride too much downhill (well, I do live in Kent...he he) it keeps my chain nice and tight when the going gets rough....
Joe, your Cannondale looks really nice, I bet she gets a good thrashing at the weekends eh...!!
How do you find the Carbon fiber thing?
Cheers..........................Rich

Buddy, nice bikes. I'm not familiar with Avanti. Is that an European bike company or a small custom builder?
Joe
Cool bikes buddy,
I must admit, I haven't heard of Avanti either, looks real nice though as does the GT Cross bike...I'll try and download my Alan cross bike on here at some stage..
Take it easy,

Hey Hunter,
Cool bikes dude!!!
I guess you could use the KHS as a Trials come Slalom bike....
Take it easy pal
Rich
Rich,
Thanks! I like the way the KHS is setup agressive enough geometry for someone who is 6' 2" and rides a 18".
Hi Hunter,
Yeah, I like small frames too .... my Trek is 18" and I'm 6ft...I think it helps me chuck the bike around a bit more, and ofcourse it's a tad lighter than say a 20" bike would be :)
Have a great weekend mate

This is a picture of my 98 FSR. I sold her a little while ago. I sure do miss her. She was a great riding bike. I built her up from a frame only and used mostly RaceFace components, and Shimano XT stuff. The fork was an older FS-Ti, that worked super smooth. For some stupid reason, I wanted a new bike, but my FSR will always be my favorite.
Cool Boomer what did you get?

OK, OK, I know it's not a Klein, Specialized, C'dale etc., but it's my first and I had to start somewhere. Been riding the heck out of it for about 2 years and all I've worn out is tires and brake pads. Works for me! But I'm still dreamin' about a better one...
Hi there matey...
I like Mongoose bikes...they make a great line...... one word of advice though...ditch those reflectors!!
You's be surprised how much weight they shave off the bike!!! ;)

Dirtgrinder,
There is nothing wrong with a mongoose. Heck everyone starts with a less expensive bike and mongoose is top of the line on the inexpensive rides..

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I've read some of the comments on bikes on the mtbr pages, and they even rip the nice bikes. Hate to see what they'd say about mine. This forum seems a lot more mature. Good riding everyone. Dirtgrinder

No problem. Its just messing me up. Have you noticed you opinion changing much about bikes or do you still have the same beliefs? :)
Rich: those are amazing looking Spin's you've got fitted. What's the story behind them? Did you have them lying around? Did you buy them for the bike specifically? Were they ex-roadie wheels you've fitted fatties onto (not sure if that's possible)? What happened to the other 29 'spokes'?:D

Hey Maelstrom, Yes and No.
The more I learn about bikes and the better rider I become, the more sophisticated my taste become. I tend to be a bike snob, but try rrrrrreeeeeeaaaaaallllllll hard not to.
Eight years ago, I would never have considered a bike that costs $2,000 used, a "Good" deal. My bike budget was $500 - 600 max. Now, I've got a $2,200 Road bike, a $3,500 Mtn Bike (on the way!), my wife has a $3,500 Road bike and a $3,200 Mtn Bike, not to mention my BMX Cruiser and my wife's old GT Mtn bike with the Child seat. Heck, I'm looking at a fork that costs more than my bike in '96.
Some of the things that have changed: I've realized the importance of a road bike and what it does for endurance training.
I'm learning more everyday about the importance of nutrition.
And yet, I still have a blast hitting a singletrack trail and pushing my limits.
I've also learned that everyone starts somewhere. I love getting a friend into cycling and taking them to some new trails and seeing them have a blast.
Some of the things that are the same: Most cyclists are great people, they enjoy being outdoors and having fun.
Some people just don't "understand" our sport, or passion. Too bad for them.
I'd rather be off-road than on.
Dirt still feels good, but tastes bad.
I never have enough time to ride!

Cheers to that a2. In many ways bikes are like computers (especially offroad tech). There is always advancement to make it better and I really have to watch myself or else I would go broke trying to keep up. I hade a similar problem 10 years ago in computers. I am still not to the level where I like a road bike but I can see it coming, definately.
Slainte.
Sweet bike. Makes me wish I had a spare 5000$ :)

Hey Mal., the only reason I was able to get this frame was the fact that I picked it up for 1000USD from my LBS. Granted it will pass the $5k mark when it is finished but it is not so bad since the spenditure(if that is a word) is spread out over time. If I had to drop the entire amount at once it would not happen for a very long time.

That is a great deal for that frame, I have only heard good things about it. Are you going to use that for dhing next year? Or for freeriding?

Actually, there is a winter dh series out here that begins, I believe, next month so I will be using the it for that. My Stinky will remain my main xc/freeride bike and the Stab will be strickly dh. I just picked up my casset for it, a Ti Dura-Ace 11-21 for 50 bucks. Seems the brakes I originaly planed on using will not be available any time in the near future so I just ordered some Hope M4's. If mt cranks ever show the bike will be done next week.
Hey Kones. I am not a C'dale fan but that there sure is a perty one.
