I have posted the following message on the 'Touring' thread.
It would appear several people who are members of this forum have holidays booked to cycle down the Danube Trail (Regensburg/Passau/Linz/Vienna) in the very near future.
Personally I'm going 2nd week September
We are all watching the flood level site at
http://www.bayern.de/lfw/hnd/pegel/10091008.htm
Where the 1100 (37 feet) peak was attained on the 13th
I believe the river level has to be blow the 600 mark for the cycle path to be above water. (Can anyone confirm ?)
It has be covered by 5m (17 feet) of water for several days, now the path is emerging what condition is it in ?
Are there any washed out sections ?
Has the path surface been stripped ?
Is it covered in mud and/or debris ?
What condition are the local villages in ?
Are the campsites open ?
Can anyone 'on the ground' give us situation reports, either eye-witness or from the German/Austian press or German/Austrian
web-sites (keeping in mind the chances are none of us speak German)
