I did it in Parry Sound this past weekend, beutiful place to run a race, very hard, but nice.

To start off, I swear the bike was uphill both ways.

these are my splits

Swim (2000m) Bike (90k) Run (21.1k) Place Time Pace T1 Place Time Speed T2 Place Time Pace
/100m Km/h /Km
35 36:50 1:51 1:19 33 2:42:03 33.3 1:36 141 2:47:39 7:57

Not to bad for not being properly trained. I have been training for Olympic all year, and i figured why not, my parnets are doing it, i'll give'er a shot.

My run was my biggest dissapointment. My hams, and lower back were so sore for the first 10km I could run at all(10km-1h30min) after that I got loose, and felt a ton better, so I was 1h17min for the last 11km.

The swim was ok, the sun got in my eyes a few times, so i could see anything but the slpash infront of me, I didnt even see the bouy till I had to turn, same thign with the swim back into the beach, hard to line up straight.

The bike, great bike out, was feeling great, but they at about the 40km mark, when I was going up hill at approx 43km/h, and feeling good, I knew goign back wwas going to suck. Made the turn around, and it was hurting to do 50km/h down hill. So i just took 'er easy on the ride back. really nice ride actually.

Man that run was a killer. first 2km are nice and flat, then it is constant hills, either up or down for the next 3km. Oh and it was freakin hot out, full sun, almost no shade. it was a long run thats for sure.

Great job! Sounds like a spontaneous jump up was a good thing for you, though your body definitely let you know it took issue with some of it. Way to persevere, and good luck on the next race!

Congrats on finishing! For the first time at a longer distance, that's all you can ask for. (Besides, it's a PB!)

Parry Sound would be a gorgeous place for a tri. Hope you had fun!

ya, it was nice to do it, it was hard, lots of hills, but nice. I amy to the Ottawa half next year because I heard it is way more flat. Better training for me( i am doing florida IM in 2006)

The Canadian? It's flat, but very loopy. It's along the canal, and I think you descend 4-5 locks one way, and climb them the other way, but the half-iron bike is 6 loops, and the run is 2 loops. I'm doing the sprint triathlon there this weekend.

I'm actually considering doing the half-Iron there next year, myself.
