Has anyone converted a BMX bike into something more easily ridable or unusual?
A friend of mine is looking for a small framed bike to fit her petit frame. I thought of an oldish bmx with higher seat post and handlebar.

You can find a lot of 3-speed hubs spaced to 110mm, which seems to be typical bmx spacing as well.

Sweet. I like those hubs, man.

My pubcrawler is kind of like a modified bmx'er. 24" wheels with slicks, 3-speed hub, little tiny frame, cantilever brakes up front. It's a lot of fun, and I don't worry too much about someone trying to steal it.

That is a handsome looking vehicle.
That's what I mean: the frame looks very photogenic.
I wonder if if would be possible to raise the seat and handlebar even higher.

That's got a 450mm seatpost in it - it goes a bit higher, the last guy to ride it was somewhere around 6' tall. A taller stem should be easy enough, I'd guess.

What is the biggest wheel a bike like that can take?

That one's built around 24" wheels. If you mean wideness, it's happily had a 24x2.0 in back before.

i guess 26" wouldn't fit, eh?

Was it a 24" wheel frame to start with? I've never seen a 24" cruiser BMX frame cheap, so I'd assumed anything in this thread would be based on a 20"er
