Advocacy & Safety - Is your workplace/school bike-friendly?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wondering what amenities your employer/educator provides for the biking commuter.
Around here, we have a secure indoor bike room, with racks, lockers, and showers, as well as a bike rack outside for visitors.
Everything but showers at this point.
not a flippin thing.
I wish we had shower facilities and a locker room / changing area.
I just became a partner so I plan on trying to make some changes. Maybe the $4 gas price will help inspire other to commute by bike.

We have everything except sponsored cycling events. And we have to pay for access to everything except the outdoor rack. But it's all quite reasonable. $50/yr for the bicycle lockers or secure indoor bike area. ~$24/mo for access to fitness center with showers which includes a nice weight room and aerobic machines if you feel so inclined. I don't know if by lockers you meant lockers to store your bicycle or lockers to store other stuff, but the fitness center has lockers one can rent on an extended basis to store stuff as well.

Demand for the shower was so high here, we installed a second, the new one closer to my office than the first....
I park my bike in my office.
My school has one bike rack far away from the actual buildings. It is a piece of **** (and that's putting it nicely) and not even bolted down. Just sitting in the grass. It's located in the corner of a parking lot in a highly visible area, which deters thieves. The only thing we have going is a gym by the rack where I can shower. It's free for full-time students, so that's nice. I've only seen one other bicycle at this school. I can't figure out why, though...
I have brought my bike in the office and probably could continue to..but I try to avoid it.
My bike outside is withing sight of my desk and the area is very safe: I don't lock it.
Showers and lockers exist, but for a fee: as part of our fitness center. I don't use either, but they are there if I feel I bneed them. The lockers are small workout type lockers tho. I just have my clothes draped around my cube, etc.

Check one off for the "not a flippin' thing" row. The closest thing that could resemble a place to lock my bike is a tree branch across the parking lot. In an unsafe area outside of my view. Not allowed to bring it inside.

This is what Duke considers 'bike facilities':

They used to call this place the 'Bike Corral', but somebody stole the sign a year ago.
I fondly call it 'the Place Where Bikes go to Die'...
I lock my bike on a railing under a covered breezeway just outside my building.
Most other folks either use lightpoles, signposts, or railings. Racks on campus are rare and of poor design.
The most prevalent form of bike rack are the evil 'wheelbender' comb-style racks you see in my pics.

My workplace doesn't have any amenities per se, but we are allowed to bring our bikes inside. It's a small company so there's no fear of them being stolen. There are 2-3 of us riding in each day.

Not a flippin' thing. I feel like my folding bike is barely tolerated and only because I bag that baby when I come into the building. My road bike is right out (expressly forbidden for "liability" reasons, WTF?). Anyhow, the freight elevator is not "manned" during times I come in and leave.
(Mediums-sized office building in Midtown NYC)
Edit: I should add that my previous employer was awesome locked bike sheds with bike racks inside, placed near the entrance which was closest to the bathroom which had a shower. Of course this wasn't in Manhattan.

We have showers and the outside bike rack is in an area where the upper level extends 10 ft so it is protected from the rain. It is a crappy rack, so I dont put my wheel into it but park my bike alongside for something to lock it to. I keep my U lock on the rack. It is fairly secure because there are monitored security cameras on the building. I entered that bike events are sponsored, because a local bike club uses the oval road (about 1 km) around the building for training youth members 2 evenings/week during the summer.

Nothing here.
That said, I bring my bike inside and store it in a spare cubicle downstairs and nobody has ever complained. One of the managers here stores his in his office.
The restrooms here are very spacious, and I have no problem just cleaning up when I get to the office. Even if there was a shower here, I don't think I'd use it except on the hottest of days.
There aren't lockers per se, but every desk has a lockable storage cupboard plus lockable drawers. I've never had a problem finding a place to store shoes, clothes, other gear etc.
We have one shower in the entire building and it's in a basement men's room. A group of female bike commuters have been lobbying for their own, so far without success.
The outdoor bike cage is pretty safe. It could be better but all in all I can't complain.
I put my bike in my cubicle. I get dozens of questions and nice comments every week. We also have showers and lockers (free), but I rarely use them.

Well, I clicked outdoor rack, but its kind of indoors. It's in a dark corner near the entrance to the parking garage. I park my bike next to me at my desk though, and nobody has ever said anything discouraging. There are lockers and showers in the building, but not provided, you have to have a gym membership.

My company is very biek freindly. Of course it helps that the owner commutes from time to time. We are allowed to stow our bikes in the warehouse and have a shower.
My last several employers have been bike friendly... one even sponsors Bike to Work Day, locally.
Back over 10 years ago at a different company I had to lobby with my boss to get some facilities... helped that a very senior co-worker also ran... and one day was changing in the restroom and stark naked when a customer walked in... :D

Sounds exactly like my situation. I've been riding for so long it is just a non-issue and has been for every employer I've ever had.
Showers would be nice, but there is a pool close by if I get too stinky.
Lockers, showers, and outside bike rack.

We have outdoor bicycle lockers, so I checked Secure Indoor Parking, as well as showers. There are clothes lockers near the showers, but we are forbidden to actually lock them. I refuse to leave my stuff unsecured, so I keep it all in my cube.

Outside rack, lockers, huge shower room - all good.
The only downside is that the racks are outside, and in the car park, so there is NO-WAY I am riding my brand spanking new Giant here - I'll stick to the mountain bike and just plain simple work harder.....

I checked nothing although that's a bit of a lie. We do have showers and a lockerroom, but they are specifically for the manufacturing plant's employees. I, a corporate loser, er, engineer, requested a locker but was denied. The shower facilities don't do me a whole lot of good if I can't keep any of my stuff near them. I would only have a showered a few days this summer anyway. I lean my bike up against the wall outside of one of the entrances that is closest to the bathrooms. At least we have individual bathrooms so I have plenty of room to get changed and cool off for a while.
