get an american frame.S&M, Fit, standard, Fbm.Ody butted race fork or dirt fork tree sprocket. profile crank.odyssey cassette is what i have, it messes up time to time but it is pretty easy to fix. i haven't heard anything bad about demolition cassttes, i heard the new one has reverse threads on the left side so nuts don't get loose when grinding. i would look into those. go for 28-10 or 25-10. you don't want a 9 tooth driver

definetly go for the tree sprocket. and get some ody forks, or wtp excaliburs, macneil id's, series 2, etc.. get a mosh cassette. and order your stuff from goods!

If you build from the ground up you're going to spend about twice what a new bike costs with the same or comparable parts. I've built four bikes so far, all of them wound up costing WAY more than I thought they would.

They dont sell many completes with parts comparable to a ground up bike. You pay for what you get in my opinion. I have been riding the profile cassette for over a year with no problems at all.

It's still cheaper in most cases to buy a complete and then just upgrade the stuff that matters. That way you get all the little nonsense parts not worth upgrading or parts that DO come standard on decent bikes...seat clamp, seat, post, brakes, lever(s), cables, gyro if you run one...this sh*t adds up fast.

I won't mention the cost of our tandem again.

Yeah, if your biulding from scratch then you'd be paying way more then a complete, you would get a better bike if you built it from scratch but seeing how you think building a bike from scratch is better then buying one then you probably wont need a bike that good just by like a haro backtrail X0 there light waight and cheap.
