Hi all, I just bought a used kind of touched up old Peugeot bike from my local bike club/shop today, for like $95. I knew absolutely nothing about bikes (and still dont really), but I just needed something that would get me around (I live in NYC, and just recently discovered that biking from place to place was usually faster than taking the subway, not to mention the $4 savings!)
However, it is a womens bike (I think) because of the way the top bar thing is set. Does this really matter? I find that it just makes it easier to mount, but will I be laughed at? :(
Secondly, was it highway robbery? This thing definetly looks beat up, and sometimes the gears are a bit finicky, but it rides beautifully (just rode it about 3-4 miles from downtown to midtown). Did I get ripped bad? I was about to buy a Huffy I saw yesterday at The Sports Authority, but decided to do a bit of research on some internet forums first (hence my membership here) and decided to go instead with this. Good choice? No? Oh yeah, it's a Peugeot "Paris Express"
Any advice/comments in general? Thanks! Excited about this forum, and this bike, looks like a really huge bunch of peoples.
