Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Should there be a hybrid discussion category on this forum?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just bought an urban bike and am currently torn as to which forum discussion I should post in. I guess that's why i'm posting in the general section.

Should there be a hybrid section?

Just my 2 cents. =)

Can you define "hybrid" for me? At what point does a road bike become a hybrid and when does it morph into a mountain bike?

When I think hybrid, I'm thinking 700cc tires with flat handlebar and mountain drivetrain. My Marin Larkspur is considered a hybrid, I think. Some call them "city bikes" too....

If you look at the way the Forums are organized, you will notice that it's based on usage and not so much on the type of bike you ride. I only ride hybrids, I use them for commuting, touring, winter riding etc. I don't usually find it too difficult to choose where to post.

I think hybrids below 28c tires, and no suspension should be road.
Whereas hybrids 32c+ tires, or suspension should be mountain.

Just a thought...

I ride a hybrid and I agree with Juha. I read and post to the various forums based on the activity involved. It makes much more sense (given the multipurpose nature of a hybrid) to browse forums based on activity.

We will discuss that on on the "Hybrid & Street Bike" Discusion Forum. - Unless you want to discuss it on the "Morph to Mountain Bike" forum.

I think there should be a gun section and a gas prices section.

The way gas prices are going you could combine the gun and gas topics into one section.

I would enjoy a hybrid forum. I posted a similar comment in the suggestions forum.

I ride a big buzz which is classified as an "urban bike." I plan to use it both on the street and on certain loose gravel and dirt trails (nothing too hairy). I just thought it would be nice to have a designated forum where other hybrid riders with similar equipment can talk about their experiences, their setups, future upgrades etc. But since this forum is organized by usage rather than bike type, my idea would not make sense. Oh well.

Commuting :)

Sorry hybrids are so vast in what they mean to people. I figure if you post in roadie, commuting and mtb you will get anything and everything you need :)

If you will check out the recreation and family forum, a major discussion area is hybrids. Reference the number of threads on Trek 7200's and 7300's and FX's and so on.
