Recumbent - Amusing Comment

No offense to our DF riding friends, but I thought this was very funny...

I ran into some friends on my ride last night, and one of them looked at my BikeE and said, "I want a bike like that! That's a lot better than one of those enema seats!"

How very profound! Nuttin more needs to be said. Your friend is to be commended :)

Now if I could just figure out how to equip my recumbent with a urinal, it would be PERFECT...

i am also a fellow BikeE rider! i was thinking about getting a section going somewhere for BikeE riders so we can find parts and equipment, seeing as our favorite company is gone. my wife and brother both ride RX models while i've got the FX. let me know if you would be interested in a BikeE specific section...

Great idea! I just got my bikeE since the company went belly up
and prices were slashed. I saw it as my last opportunity to own one,
but I worry about something breaking and not being able to get parts.
I'm very happy I took the plunge. Biking way more and enjoying every
minute.

Just a curiosity question, but what parts on a BikeE could you not get except frame parts from common available parts? Did they not use generally available parts for those that might fail?

that's the nice thing about the Bike E's, they use pretty basic parts. like you said, the frame is different and a few other things, but for the most part you can get most of the pieces you need for one from any bike store. that's part of the reason i went with that bent.

I have a question for all of you who ride recumbs... how old do you have to be before you should ride one of these....55?...60?...older? :D

I've got a question, too....I went to Ebay after readin your conversation, and saw that the BikeE CT is being sold in lots for around $300.

I'm curious whether you can attach a trailer or touring panniers or anything to this kind of bike...

Ok being serious now....whats a good average speed on those bikes and how long can you keep it up for...say for seasoned roadie? Has anyone here ever toured with one and how many miles was your tour?

I've never ridden a BikeE but my regular 2-hour workout ride on the Lynx is 18 mph. I'm not a speed demon but I get a good cardio workout. I've yet to tour but hope to find the time someday...

I'm not a racer, but some models are better then others for speed, look at the new Bechetta (sp). I have toured on recumbents over the last 14 years, covering nines states and part of Canada. We (I have three other friends with recumbents) average between 400-750 miles in a week.
