Hello Everyone
I have an SR ALPINE SPORT Road bike I am refurbishing. I have found no info on the web, apparently SR went out of business before the big web boom. The SR appears to be low to mid-range for the time period. The Dia-Comp brakes have markings for 1983, so I am assuming this could be an '83-'84 model. All the components are Suntour and wheels are Araya, the stem as a very long Nitto of 66mm. There is a sticker on the seat tube saying "Champion No. 5, Chrome Molybden Steel, Seamless P.G. Tubing, Tange Industries, LTD".
I had been to a thrift shop where I had seen an old Bridgestone that resembled the frame, but it has a few small differences, such as the smooth dropouts on the SR. The Crank and arms are SR Custom aluminum.
I bought an SR downtube shifter to replace the large stem shifter and looking for a 120mm or 130mm handlebar stem.
If anyone knows anything about these bikes and if they are worth upgrading, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
P.S. I replaced the front Dia-Comp brake with an old MAFAC Racer I had laying around, thought it might work, but it seems a bit too long, I have the pads as far up as possible.
