Touring - Aerobar compatible handlebar bag?

Greetings,

I just added a set of Profile Design Split Second aerobars to my bike, on the outside of my Ortlieb handlebar bag. Lets me get down out of the wind (flat bar), but too wide to be really really comfy. It's work-able, but while trying to reverse the mounts to get the elbow pads inside the bars, it ocured to me that a bag designed for aerobars would be ideal, so first, does anybody know of any commercial bags designed for aerobars, and second, has anybody home-brewed something they could recommend?

don't know of a bag, but there is the double stem method so that your handlebar tops are free real estate ...

Can you describe it or provide any links to pictures of one in action?

Thanks for the link. Intriguing, but I don't think that'd work with the aeros; wouldn't be able to open the bag (my Ortlieb is a top opening bag). Guess I'll have to kludge something together from camera bags or smaller bar bags, or live with wide aeros.

I'm in the same quandry, Love my aerobar for touring, but miss having "stuff" up front and handy. Depending on the model bar you have, here are some options Aerobar Bags (http://www.tri-zone.com/Products.html?cat=65) That and a benito box might handle having the essentials at hand. I've also velcroed a tiny cheap camera bag to hold my camera (the bag is the 98 cent one at WallyMart) to the stem to hold my camera handy. I miss having my LonePeak Bag, but no place to mount it.

A regular handlebar bag can work just fine with aerobars. I used Rivendell's hobo bag with the Syntace C2s + 1" risers. If possible, try and fix the bars a good bit wider then you'd suspect otherwise; more room to reach down into the h-bar bag and more control/less effort to steer. (IMO the aero position itself ain't all that badass, but having another 3-4 positions with little to no stress on the hands is f'n dynamite.)


I also did use an old blackburn aerobar bag, but used it mostly as a (1/3 too small) map case and stash for glasses and other stuff that would be ok soaked. It was ok. I'd probably forego it for an actual map case and easier bag access next time.
