I have an oldish looking suzue track hub that I decided to put on my beater fixie until my street dog is back in service.
I wanted to change the 16t no-name cog on the suzue for a 15t dura ace cog. the dura ace cog is the same width as all my other cogs but when I put it on the suzue it leaves very few threads for the lockring to thread on, to the point that I believe it would easily strip the lockring threads clean off were the cog to come loose.
the cog that is on the suzue is much thinner than the dura ace, soma or eai cogs that I have. it has no markings other than "16" stamped into one side.
I can't tell what the difference is between the suzue hub and the other hubs I have. I don't know if the other hubs have more cog threads, more lockring threads, or both. what's the deal and why are some cogs thinner than others. Is it just so that they can fit on inferior hubs that don't have enough threads?
