The VDO C1 is cheap, reliable, and very easy to navigate. It also comes with with a five year warranty.

The Sigma BC 500 is cheap and simple to use. It only keeps track of 5 functions - speed, distance, trip distance, time of day, and trip (riding) time. I bought it for under $20 at a LBS.

Topeak Panoram 17 functions, read at a glance, mounts over the center of the stem, backlight, looks damn impressive and costs $39 Au.so should be peanuts in the USA.

I've had a Schwinn cheapie on my hybrid for 2 years now. Got it at Wally Mart for 10 bucks. Never had a problem with it.
