On my newly fixed (gear, that is) bike, I'm running an Alex ATA22 rim in the back, and a mismatched Araya 27 inch x 1 1/4 in the front.
Can I put a 38mm studded Schwalbe on the Alex rim, or will the tire be too wide? If not, do you know of a narrower studded tire?
The Araya 27 incher is hookless. Is this an unsafe rim to use with underinflated tires? How low can I go (in terms of PSI)
Does a studded 27 inch tire exist? As far as I can tell, neither Schwalbe nor Innova make them. Should I just bite the bullet and build up a new wheel using a regular 700C?
BTW, I just moved to Winnipeg, so I think studded tires are pretty key for the winter.
