This last weekend I flew from my home in Dallas, Tx to East Lansing Michigan to visit my fiancee over the Labor Day weekend. After dealing with the summer with high's in the mid to upper 90's and getting up at 7am on the weekends to get in rides before the temps reached those melting points - 4 days of highs in the 70's made me very jealous. If I hadn't been with my girlfriend for the first time in three months I would have been scanning every phone book in each for a bike shop that offers rentals. Though I must admit, some of the roads we covered were in a bit bad shape for my requirements of roads that I would travel on.

All said and done it was a beautiful weekend (made even more so since I was with my beautiful girlfriend of course) and I now wish to have two homes. One in the north to enjoy high's in the 70's and 80's through the summer, and another far south, say Mexico - for the winters. :)

Hate to break it to ya, but Michigan summers are not like you saw. We've had plenty of days in the 90's with high humidity. Yep, right now it's perfect weather, but that's not always the case.

Michigan summers were UNBEARABLE! Imagine a sauna where one can TOUCH the humidity! (Grad school in MI was enlightening but the summers were insufferable). Give me DRY heat anytime! :beer:

Dang, I must be tired from traveling and too much good wine this weekend, I misspelled weekend in the thread title. *shrug*

When you're talking humidity, are we talking 80-90% or less than that? Dallas isn't Houston, but it's no Arizona either when it comes to humidity. I've gone out on many days where it was 96 with a heat index of well over 106 or more. I could see having the great lakes on either side that the humidity could climb pretty high. But wow does it look like some pretty scenery (and I'm judging by the Lansing area which from what I hear is not nearly as nice as some points north). Do have to admit though - not sure if my thin Texas blood could handle your winters. I get cold just hearing about the temps from my girlfriend duirng the winter. We are hoping for good weather mid May when we get married in Michigan.
