Just as the title suggests.
I takemy 8 year old on the trail with me and I am amazed that with all the joggers, walkers and riders that use this pathway, that there is no bumper rails on the Flatbush Avenue drawbridge, the bridge before Canarsie Pier and that between Erskine and Pennsylvania that there is a stretch of trail that is not paved and is open to highway traffic.
They built the Gateway Mall a few years ago and they did an incredible job of making a trail where their property line starts and ends, but what happened in between. This is long over due. Who does one talk to about these problems?

I second your concern. I live near Broklyn College and like to advantage of that "trail". I would like me and my lady friend to ride it together but she probably rides just as well as your 8 year old....

The lack of gaurd rails and mingling with "highway" trafic would consern me. But the fact that the trail is not paved is a minor point, one can ride most well groomed unpaved paths with a road bike (yes you do have to slow down but would you do 70mph on a gravel road).

I avoid that place like the plague. Good luck to the 5000 people doing the NYC century through there. :-p

What's worse is that in some places, there used to be a pole sticking out dividing the entrance of the path in half. On prob is, some idiot removed the 5" diameter metal pole and left a stump, which is even harder to see.
