slow server?

Is it my imagination, or is response time unusually slow today?

I've tried the forums on a couple of computers with fast connections, still seem much slower than usual

Maybe everyone's back from their summer vacations and surfing full time?

I've noticed ith the past couple of days... kinda sporadic.

Unsure. Does seem to be a domain issue response times on traceroute are consistent with other similar sites. Could potentially be a server issue.

If I notice it again I will do a traceroute as it is very sporadic. Right now all seems good and so is the routing.

To get to this section of the forum took 38 seconds. This thread, 22 seconds. This was pretty good. I have had a couple of load times near two minutes and lost several posts due to extreme lag.
It is not my computer, several other forums loaded in under five seconds, graphics heavy pages about the same.

I've been having problems. I just can't tell if it's my internet, the forums, or both, but my thought is that it's both. :( Sometimes, I get the "Cannot find server" even when my internet is fine, and I've noticed a lot of double and triple duplicate postings, which means that people must be having a hard time with loading, so they go back and repost or hit the reply button more than once. I'll drop Joe a PM.

I use Opera, and this reply took 48 seconds w/ sub dial up speeds on a Cable w/ 6mb/s speed. I'd like to join the forums and upgrade my membership, but I find the site unusable 1/2 the time.

There is an upgrade in the works. There was a database corruption last attempt so Joe went back to the "old" server.

I have to say though, Carless, while I find the site slow, thats excessive. I wonder if there is a burp in transit to bikeforums as well as the slow server.

I am sure I am not a network savvy as some people here. However, there are time when I trigger a page and it has difficulty loading up so I retrigger and get immediate results. Not sure why. But instead of waiting 48 seconds if the page does not load in 10 seconds I retrigger.

28 seconds is excessive. I would say I haven't had a single page load slower than 10seconds.

At work I have a 10meg fibre and at home I have standard dsl.

I thought I would chime in here. I just joined several days ago and I have found this forum VERY helpful but there is something wrong with your server.....this is the ONLY site that I experience slow load up times, I am on cable and no other sites except this one is slow in operation, it is like being back on a slow dail up.....it is too bad because this site is so informative

Download speed isn't really related to how fast the server is because there's too many people on it. Also if you'd really want to see faster speeds, probably be better off being a contributing member now than later as you can't really buy a new server with funds that don't exist.
