I finally got my new bike. I got a GT Jamie Bestwick Pro. I never thought i'd venture into buying a GT but i did. One thing that really surprised me was the front 990s actually work, most don't. IDK, Im excited its a pretty good bike, but yet I bought a GT.

I sense a bit of sarcasm. But since im trying to not psot stupid crap, I wont go on the angry FTC, rant that'll get sensored, by the mods. But to keep on the topic, I don't like my bars, they're too wide. And I've decided, not to buy 4 pc. bar like I usually do. Whats a nice set of 2pc. bars that aren't too wide, but are still good for barhopping. I have a $30 budget.

I have a Sawzall, I'll cut it down when my parents are away this Friday, if they found out I took the Sawzall to any part of the bike they'll flip. My dad already got mad at me when I took the bash guard off(he thought it was cool looking, He used to BMX back in the day so i can see why). I payed for the majority of the bike, $200 of it, they put in $100. So im sure a few of you guys can relate with me, and how my parents are about they new bike. Im also getting a free seat from GT because mine had some messed up stitching.

I just took it out for its first real ride. Its a pretty impressive bike, which is surprising considering all the crap GT has put out in the last 5 years. At first I didn't do much, my wrist had gotten messed up again from playing some football. So for the first 2 hours, I just rode around with my friends.

I finally decided to go get a wrist brace thing, so I went down to the Pharmacy, and got one. As soon as I put it on, I was ready to break my bike in. Now this bike is a bit on the heavy side, not unusual if you've ridden newer GTs. Im guessing its around 40 to 45lbs, I could probably get it down to about 35. First bunny hop was a pathetic 5 inches, but its a heavy bike. By then end of the day I was poping it up about a foot(I could hit about 2 feet on my DK). There aren't that many good jumps where I usually ride, just a few dirt mounds. I was hitting those for awhile. This bike does get decent air but it takes a little more effort.

Then I decided to try it out doing some flatland moves. The thing endos pretty well, pops up in wheelies and manuals like nothing. I did a few barhops. I really couldn't do much more, I didn't have the pegs on. This is just the first ride its been through so I can't say alot. But from my first ride. Its going smoothly. I really can't do much more until I go to the skatepark on Friday. Until then Im gonna be working my ass off to repay that $100.

Currently:

Pros: Nice looking bike. Good Geometry. Pretty solid. Manuals like a charm.

Cons: Bars need to be trimmed. I don't really like the seat. A bit heavy. Unsealed bottem bracket.

I haven't really spent alot of time riding this, but it seems like It'll last me a few years.

I don't know why you insist on knocking GT. Every serious company has good bikes, and not so good bikes. Their race bikes are highly regarded.

I guess you're right. Just compare a Mongoose to a Mongoose Pro, they're completely different bikes. I've found a new thing to knock. MTN bikes, at the skate park.

Would you prefer those people to stay at home and be lazy bastards instead? If they have a mountain bike, why shouldnt they ride it at the skate park?

Because, as the name implies, mountain bikes are better suited to mountains. They're either too flimsy or too heavy / awkward to make much sense in the park/street.

Yes, I've seen videos of pros ripping it up on mountain bikes in skateparks. You know how much I care? Not at all, that's how much. The pros on BMX bikes make them look just as lame as the average BMXer makes the average MTBer in the park look.

I have a very good reason. The skate park I go to, has been taken over by Mountain Bikers(like 15 of em). I wouldn't mind if they treated kids on a BMX with respect, but thats not the case. They act like they own the place, thats was the beginning of al lthe trouble, thats turned into a cold war at the skate park. Most of it started when they'd just sit on the 1/4 pipes, the mini ramp. And for no reason, we asked the kids to move out of the way. They just responded by calling us ****. A week ago my best friend got jumped when he was up there alone. So now we can only go up there in a group. Im debating whether or not to show up with all the kids I bike with(about 10 guys), and kick their asses. I don't mind if you ride your mountain bike in the skate park. Just don't hang out up there with your friends, and act like tough guys, and start **** with the BMXers. In fact don't start **** at all. I can't even enjoy my time at the park. I'm not saying all Urban Mountain Biekrs or what ever you guys are are bad, just these losers are.

Here's your standard MTB skatepark run:

Tiretap, tiretap, tiretap, tiretap, tiretap, unclicked x-up, ugly tabletop, tiretap, tiretap, hideous barspin, hideous backflip attempt, tiretap, tiretap...

Don't stoop to his level, and don't be stupid. Several guys on here have Haro bikes, and at least 2 of us race them. If you want to get your butt kicked on a track by someone more than twice your age, I'd be happy to show you how it's done.

Haro is to BMX what Trek is to road bikes. Affordable, decent entry to mid-level bike shop bikes. There's nothing inherently terrible about them, but there's nothing really exotic or special, either.

mtn. bike stunting is new. given time, I think it won't look so goofy.

I could care less what other people ride or want to do, really.

http://www.joekidonastingray.com/jktrailer_qt.html

when bmx was new, especially the stunt riding, people looked at it as goofy and as something that wouldn't last. it was directly stolen from Motocross. people wore goofy uniforms. it took a good number of years before bmx stunting found it's own path. now it's very socially acceptable (on tv, riders are very highly paid, etc..)

I personally think mtn. biking will push bmx out as far as being on tv. riders can go much larger, it's new to the tv viewing audience and like MX, it's 'flashy'. tv viewers like flashy....

Ok, heres how it is where i come from. Caucasian child sees dave mirra riding a haro. He begs Mommy to buy a haro. Of course, the spoiled little **** gets the bike the same day. That kid rides his haro through his predominantly white neighborhood doing pop wheelies. His buddies all buy haros to be cool. Minorities ride through their neighborhood on hoopdy's and see Haro bikes in front of a store. they quickly hop off their bikes and get on the haros without making noise. White kids get new haros. The next day. Now everybody has a haro.

queens dude said how most guys get haros in his hood... (he didnt say thats how he got his.)
then guy from MODESTO says with a reply, that is how he got his haro.

then someone else said to MODESTO guy, "your mommy bought it or you jacked it.."

the you said, "jacked no doubt.."

but you were talking about queens dude, who never said he jacked his..
