Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - anybody else think this is kind of silly "how to handlebar dismount"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

this is my standard mount and dismount, but reading all that confused the hell out of me. now i'm not sure i can do it anymore. don't think! just do.

That's a "fixie thing"? Who knew.. I was making fun of some guy I saw get on his bike like that recently. I didn't realize I was getting on my bike wrong.. :P
you all can stop holding your breath now. nobody's found you out.
i do this sometimes. i also mount normally sometimes. actually i guess i usually mount this way. but i did see some guy with super wide bars try to do this the other day, and ended up kicking his bars really hard. it was pretty funny. wide bars are the devil.

I do the handlebar mount/dismount now and even on my road bike. Less chances of splitting your pants. Ruined a couple of pairs of pants throwing my leg over the saddle. and no my pants weren't that tight.

i actually read that before i had my fixie, just poking around 63xc.com (it's a great site). it's a pretty anti-climactic article, kind of builds you up like it's going to be this awesome double-backflip move, when really you just... swing your leg.... over the handlebars..

I do it all the time, cause my bars are lower than my seat. That's a pretty insane description though...

the next section explaining the dismount and the inner thigh slap is funny too.

it's so bad! mods, can we ban this guy for talking about mounting his bike this way? :)
