A friend wants to add bar ends to his Trek 7300. He has the twist type shifters, and was wondering if it would be possible to move the grips in the half an inch instead of cutting the half inch off the end of the grips.
What steps should we take in doing this?
I know we will have to cut off the end of the grips, but once that is done is it possible to move the grips in the half inch, and how?
Yeah, just loosen everything up and move it.

Bigmark- I have just had barends installed on my 7300. LBS did this for me . He took the short end of the grip off and put it on a spare set of bars and hit it with a hammer to cut the ends off. Reinstalled the short grips after he moved everything in . He then put plugs into the end of the bars and everything turned out really nice.I bought some rubber tubing and put it over the barends. It really makes it very comfortable.
a scissors or a knife will also work on grips
