Folding Bikes - Need part for old Peugeot folding

I have an old folding peugeot, actually it is before folding. It has the pin system to take it into two pieces. Its in excellent original condition, but a piece broke. There is a piece of metal that holds the pedal on after you unscrew it. Is there a source for older parts or should I just have a metal working friend replicate it from the other?

is it the cotter pin that holds the crank arm on the bottom bracket? if so, you could replace it with just about any pin. if it's something specific that i don't know what you're talking about i may be able to help. i have an old peugeot folder in a million pieces in my basement. if i have what you're looking for, it's yours. can you post a photo of what you need?

Theres a little one and a half inch metal piece there held on by two screws. It makes the pedal hinge fold when you slide the lever and loosen the pedal. I was stupidly moving the bike while the pedals were in the fold positioin and one caught something and snapped the metal piece.

EricDJ: would you mind posting pics of the whole bike? I had a c.1960's Peugeot folder during the 1980's (while in Germany, near the French border). I wish I kept that bike...

sorry eric, mine just has regular, non-folding pedals.

Will do, then maybe someone will be able to tell me more about it. Its all original and very nice. original seat, grips, tires, down to the reflectors.

3 inch clearance. If anyone knows anything about this model, please let me know.

What size are those tires ?The writing on the sidewall appears to say 14 inches by 1.75. Your peugot reminds me of my Roll N fold.I would guess unless you have changed it your rear sprocket is a 16t. haven't you ever wanted to improve your gearing. :rolleyes:

Its a 14t, it has Araya rims and the tires are indeed 14x1.75 made by I.R.C. Frankly, i've only ridden this thing maybe 2-3 times.

I modified my roll N fold with a 52t chainring and a 13t fixed cog for a nominal gearing of 56 inches actual is about 54. I think peugot sold the design for your bike to the Chinese to make mine .The original chainring was 39T with a 16t rear cog for a miserable 34 inch gear.I found the gearing totally unworkable and replaced the crank with a shimano sora crankset from Nashbar .I would reccomend checking with loose screws bicycle small parts for cranks chainrings and rear cogs, if you wish to modify your peugot. ;) i have used my roll N fold for exploring the coronado california area while there for training .I am able to pack it in a suitcase.
