Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on frame size. I'm planning on purchasing a 2002 Giant Rainier and I found a 17" frame. It feels fine when I ride it but I'm not able to take it out on the trail or anything until I buy it. I plan to ride on trails as well as the street. When I stand over it I don't have a ton of room between the post and my :D :D (you know). I'm about 5'11" and wear 32" inseam for pants.

I also tried a 19" (same frame geometry) and didn't notice any difference really.

I wish I could be more specific. I really don't cater to a measuring method with mountain bikes. I personally like the frame to fit small (saves the family jewels when I bunk up a drop or jump). I have never ridden the ranier but i can say I ride a Kona Roast 19" and I am 6'5. Perfect fit for my riding. If you sit on the bike and it feels ok and your leg is extended. That is good. But if you put the seat down and pretend you are riding a steep downhill or rough section does that seat go low enough for you body to 'easily' side backwards over the rear axle.

Hope this helps a bit.

Cool thanks for the replies!

It felt good so I think I'm going to buy it. Pretty tough to find that bike anywhere so I better snag it. I was hoping you would say that frame size sounds logical. Now I can get up at 9am and go buy that thing! Wooooo! I'm excited. My last bike got stolen about 2 years ago and I kinda fell out of the sport. Now I'll be back for good though!
