Track Cycling: Velodrome Racing and Training Area - Last night...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
...at the local track, there was a pro Keirin racer from Japan. One of this guy's legs were easily the size of my torso. They did a couple races, and it was like nothing I had ever seen. This guy was so very smooth, like the bike was an extension of his body, and he absolutely crushed everyone. I don't think he even broke a sweat. He had a sweet, sweet 3Rensho. I wanted to ask him for a picture, but didn't want to be "that guy." Anyway, just wanted to let people know that may appreciate my awe. Very cool.

It's cool to see a real pro in action. Smooth, efficient, no wasted energy. Just FAST.
I'll always remember a few years ago Marty Nothstein showed up at a local crit here. It was a pretty strong field (I was a spectator), but Marty won all the primes by 1/2 a wheel. I think he even got the prime on the second to last lap, so I figured that was it. But then, as they came up to the finish, he launched the "real" sprint with 200 meters to go, and won by like 190 meters. It looked like he was going downhill and everybody else was going up.
