I don't mean to keep bashing some company just to be a pest, but it really upsets me how their receipt shows one thing and they charge the CC another. I am going to have my CC company fight it out with them. It's just not right, and for the many people who wouldn't think to check their receipt against their statement, it's truly a rip off.

I'm sure you have a valid problem, however, this really isn't the place for your venting. However, since you started, I'm going to give my opinion and try to provide some unbiased insight (I'm not affiliated with Nashbar or this website. I'm just a consumer).

1. I usually deal with Performance but have purchased online from Nashbar. With the same parent company, many consider them one in the same. I order from either of the two at least four times a year.

2. I've yet to be charged more than my receipts show at checkout. When discrepancies or issues have occurred, a call or e-mail to customer service usually resolves the issue quickly and in my favor.

3. Everyone should reconcile their credit card statements to receipts. It's good financial management.

I agree; it's time to move on.

When you get your order confirmation email, forward it again to yourself with something like "i used X coupon code" written in there somewhere. This way you won't lose it or get it mixed up with another order. It's simple but I hope someone finds it useful.

I used the '1575SPR' code to buy a Shimano WH-5600 wheelset for 150 bucks- sounded like a great deal at the time. My rear hub cracked on Wednesday, so I had the wheelset shipped overnight for an MS-150 ride on Sunday.

The outcome? Instead of a wheelset, I received a pair of 24 dollar touring shoes.

I think they need to charge tax in states where there are Performance Shops. If I'm not mistaken they are the same company. Maybe I'm wrong though.

It seems that Nashbar has bumped up their prices just to mark them down again for the impression of a good deal. They've been doing this a lot lately. AE Bike often has much better prices than Nashbar, especially after you factor in sales tax and shipping.

She says if you do this, your credit card will be charged for the discounted price and not the full price as a comment flags the order to customer service people and they dont process the order until they've looked at it.

I have some free ground shipping going on a new chain - I have no idea when they're getting around to that. It's been a while.

nashbar wasn't too bad for shipping times considering they use USPS, 4 days but YMMV. Performance Bike was slower - their tracking showed my order sitting in a FedEx sort facility for 4 days. Ordered from both the same day and recv'd Nashbar order 4 days earlier. On higher dollar orders I'm going to pay the few extra bucks for faster delivery.

hell, i went to bed early last night half way through setting up an order. when i crashed out the total was 135. now it is 168. the prices on several components jumped 5-10 bucks .

All retail stores do that. Mom worked in retail for many years and always had to stay late to mark up the prices the day before a "sale".

I guess shoppers beware...

GRUMBLE - I just bought some pedals from them. 10%off my butt. After shipping and the gub'ment up here taking their cut I'm going to be doing all my shopping in a physical store where I can touch what I'm about to buy.

I spent about a decade in retail, and most retailers change prices around a lot to get more sales. I'll use a job I had at a major electronics retailer as an example:

We sell television sets. There's a nice projection set, and because I suck at math, let's say it costs an even $1000.00.

Most weeks, the price will be below $1000.
Week 1: 20% off all televisions! $800
Week 2: Sale! $100 off, free dvd player with purchase ($50 value), free basic delivery ($50): $800
Week 3: Regular price: $1000
Week 4: Price hike to $1100.00. 10% off all televisions, no interest for 18 months (let's make that worth $100): $890.

See what's happening? Most retailers have a handful of perks, discounts and promos:

Free shipping
Free delivery
Free gift card
Free product or service from partner
Gift with purchase
Rebate
0% interest
Percent off
Dollar off

Each one has a value to the retailer. Different consumers respond differently to different promotions. The retailer generally offers roughly the same value most weeks. I respond well to free shipping. Some people are suckers for percentage off sales, while others like getting a free gift card or some interest-free period to pay for their purchase. Because the product is on sale most of the time, increases sometimes have to happen in the middle of a block of sales. Now, don't get me wrong, they probably try to plan price increases at the start of percent off or dollar off sales. I'm just saying that waiting for an item to be off sale isn't practical for many retailers when they're marking down whole departments.

I see a bit of this in Nashbar. Ever notice how much of their stuff is on sale? Every day, there's a different mix. They're trying to instill in the consumer a sense of urgency. They want you to think that not buying now means that you're going to miss out on a bargain. Everything on their front page is "ONE DAY ONLY!". They make you use coupon codes so you can feel special (and so there's some breakage).

I ordered a trunk mount rack and guess what ? The next day they lower the price $5.00 and to top it off I have been waiting for 9 working days on something that was in stock! I also am peeved about the online order status not being funtional ! I used to purchase quite regularly from Nashbar, Been a customer for 14 years and now when I call I can't even get a tracking number on my shipment!!!!! Piss poor service now days is all I have been getting!!!!:mad:

Same deal for me. I bought a freehub and centerlock rotor, no order tracking, THEN I get this coupon the next morning. I had a similar experience at cambriabike.com. Aside from bargain basement deals, it's less and less enjoyable or even practical to shop at some of these online retailers.

Yep. I've pretty much crossed out Nashbar as a place to look for parts and gear. I now only use them as a last option.

Their constant 'sales' and email bombardment is really annoying too.
