In the interest of additional fairness, and as I believe was hashed out here earlier (or maybe the Performance coupon thread), ALL retailers, brick-and-mortar and online, do this to some degree.

Online retailers do it most because it's far easier to change prices with the click of a mouse (or perhaps a script) than to go item to item, or shelf to shelf to change prices as a regular brick-and-mortar store would.

In any case, it's not unusual but I will agree it's misleading. The biggest offense, yet still legal, is when the retailer says your discount is x%, but that discount is based of of a retail price that is outrageously high and almost always never paid by any consumer.

Nashbar does that too. Check out their house brand items for example. The MSRP on those are wildly inflated. Cross levers for example,which are just re-badged Tektro levers, have an MSRP of $35.00 on the Nashbar site, and are often 'on sale' for $30.00. The same Tektro levers can be found at several online retailers for an every day price of $19.00.

Nashbar sales and discount commercials are a total BS to say the least. Prices rarely change, but commercials make it sound like this is the last deal you'll get before the end of the universe.

Also, a 10% coupon (regardless of how much you order) is always available. So 10% off for $50 or more is BS.
