Try W242 - it gave 25.00 off a 249.99 purchase. Not sure if it's a 10% off or $25 off a certain minimum purchase price.

FWIW, I kept going back and trying different code combos, and that one took.

NBUCKPT works for orders over $50 ($10 off = 20%, on small orders). I just used it at 8:30AM 3-10-08. But the lady on the phone said the W242 is not in effect until 3-17-08 (10% off whole order). Thanks folks. The discount covered the ground shipping. Sure beats stopping to pickup pennies while cycling, and is a lot safer!!

Just an FYI - I used the NBUCKPT code on a recent order - $50.98 (subtotal before S&H & before the coupon was applied) - and it showed that it worked so my total w/Shipping showed as $50.23 (which was the total I also received in my email confirmation). However, when the charge went through on my bank account it went through for the full amount - $60.23. I called Nashbar customer service and they said they'll fix it, but I just wanted to put this out there in case any one else has similar problems.

They always do an authorization for the full amount, then a charge for the actual amount. It's rather annoying, especially because the authorization takes forever to go away.

Yeah, I know what you're saying because I've had the experience with transactions where the authorization isn't always what the final charge is (especially restaurants where you leave a tip). And this would be fine if it were only an authorization. But in my case, this was the actual charge that went through and was fully debited from my account.

They usually raise their prices before a 20% coupon too. I've switched to buying from http://aebike.com as they often have lower prices than Nashbar and don't charge taxes and high shipping rates.

Make sure you send customer service an email to make sure the discount is applied. I have had excellent experiences from their customer service! Also, I believe Nashbar has a policy to apply the pricing discount on an item within a couple of weeks should you need to order the same item again.

I'm beginning to wonder if they change prices based on what goes in people's carts. I had 5 items in my cart last Tuesday's to use with the 5/15% off promo but didn't buy that day. Came back next day and placed same 5 items in cart and 4/5 items had gone up in price. :mad: Coincidence? I didn't buy and don't plan on it.

A company that is managing their web store constantly might do such a thing. It's not unheard of to increase prices of items in demand, whether at brick-and-mortar stores or on the web. The difference is that it's instantaneous on the web.

I'm not advocating that doing so is always right, but there's nothing wrong with it.

From personal experience in retail, discounts are often the result of a supplier's promotion. Supplier wants to drive up volume and will offer a discount or get bill backed for the price difference off the promo. In the company I work at, it's VERY rare that we will offer a discount at our own cost... the time that it does occur is usually to get rid of some inventory that we never want to carry again cause it's just not selling.

It is common to change prices of items based on supply and demand. Cart contents don't have an effect on demand, but completed orders do.

The nashbar cart seems to regularly be cleared out after a period of inactivity, even if you are signed in to use it. It's ok for them to do what they did :( you simply missed out on the promo. Next time jump on it. Also specific to nashbar, I've noticed that on some high-end items the sale goes away but then comes back again a month later.
