Mountain Biking - Woohoo!! Got my bike today! Rainier 2002

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi,
I've been looking around for the 2002 Giant Rainier and just the other day I happened to walk in a bike shop and one was sittin' there. So I snatched it up. I just wanted to share my excitement since most of you know what it's like to get a new bike. Even this morning someone called the shop for it but luckily I had a hold on it. Close call.
So right when I got home I decided to ride it to the front door of course. And that requires me going up about a 4 inch curb. Since I use to bike alot I knew that required pretty much no skill. I should've been able to just ride into the thing and get over it. Well my wheel twisted and I fell right onto the sidewalk. Hahhahahhahha, I couldn't believe it! It was hilarious! :D :D
Anywho, I guess I don't have to worry about my first scratch now.

How much did you pay?
I can not find any here in ny. Only 1 lbs had one and would only give me $20 off. It wasn't the silver on silver that i wanted so i said screw it.
I paid $585 before tax. Total it ended up being about $650 though. I joined this club they have also. It costs $20 to sign up for a year but they send me $50 in gift certificates. So right off the bat I have $30 in certificates to buy stuff with.
Mine isn't the silver on silver one either:( But I just had to put that behind me and go for it since i really wanted this one. It's growing on me more though. I like the colors still. Good luck in your hunt.

A new bike.....what a beautiful thing.
So what is the first upgrade?(jk);)
Congrats on the new ride.

Yeah I feel pretty lucky I was able to find one. I thought I was going to have to search for one online too. I think it was a sign that I have to start biking everyday now. I do wish I could've gotten if from a decent LBS but I couldn't. I knew more about the bike than these guys seemed to. So I'm just going to find a good one around here and that'll be it.
dirtbikedude, I think my first upgrade will be a new seat!! That thing hurts my bum! i think i'll get one of those big huge ones with gel and then probably a nice sheepskin cover. ;)

must be really exciting getting a new bike. the only thing more exciting is building one heehee. i know how you feel, i just picked up a used frame/fork set at a garage sale, specialized rockhopper aluminim with specialized fork... it'll be fun to build and once its done i can ride the heck out of it:p
