On the powerstroke, my quads are rubbing my seat stays real close to where the meet the seat tube. Seems to happen most often on the ride home right after working out, but it's still annoying. I am trying to figure out if it is just me being a freak, or if this happens to anyone else. Near as I can tell, everything is setup well, frame fits me, seat is at proper height/angle, bars are comfy, knees don't wobble back and forth.
I can't imagine it would have anything to do with the stays being wide, rear is spaced at about 124mm. Frame is an old Dave Scott Ironman.
Posting here, because I haven't had this happen on any bike other than my conversion.

do you have freakishly muscular thighs?

do you have some kind of laid-back seatpost? i don't see how that's possible, unless your leg is completely straight at the lowest point of the pedal rotation and you're sitting way back
same here. Check the seat position. Maybe move it forward and get a longer stem.

yeah, I'm gonna have to go with the "freak" theory. :P
I actually don't even understand how your legs are in the vicinity of your seat stays... you must be sitting waaaay back.

You are probably right about being a freak. I was also noticing that my saddle is at a slight angle, the nose is higher than the tail, so I might be sliding back...especially in those slick gym shorts. I didn't think this would be the problem though; the saddle is fairly far forward on the post. Going to try lowering it and adjusting the angle.
Not a fan of pictures of myself (see first sentence), but we'll see if it must come to that.
ms-paint plz, cause i dont get it

are you sure you mean your quads? that umm... seems impossible, as mentioned. if you have a really low saddle with a lot of setback i can possibly see some part of your leg striking (maybe), but definitely not your quads.

ocassionally my thighs, about 4-5 inches above my knees will rub my seat binder bolt. my bike fit is nearly spot-on, and my seat isn't especially slammed back on the rails.
i don't really know why it happens, just that it does. it doesn't really bother me though.

If your thighs were rubbing your chainstays, then you'd have a real problem. hehe.

I guess I'm a freak also. On my Trek 400 my thighs occasionally rub the seat stays where they attach to the seat post. The Trek has a little more laid back seat tube angle and the seat post is somewhat set back.
On my Mercier track bike my thighs don't come close, so I guess is is a matter of geometry and bike setup.

this is what i mean. if your fit is correct and your bike is the correct size then i don't see how it's possible unless you're seated way back with your legs dead straight at the bottom point of rotation.
