I went into the LBS the other day to find those small lights that attach to your valve stem on your tire. I believe they are called Fireflies. The owner of the LBS said that his only source for these, now lists the item as "unavailable". A cursory seach on Google also yields nothing useful.

Does anyone have a retail or wholesale source for these ?

Dan

They are called Tirefly's, you can find info here: http://www.lightsforyourtires.com/ & http://www.tireflys.com/bikes.html

I'm skeptical about using them as safety devices... if that’s what you are considering.

Haven't looked recently, but I have seen these at Wal-Mart before.

Radio Shack $5. Works great at night, better than reflectors.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the Radio Shack first, and order online if I can't find them there.

Joe:

What makes you think that these wouldn't add to your safety on the road ?

As far as use as a safety device.... What I really am after is some kind of moving light that won't get lost in the "clutter" of lights on a busy city street in the evening. If Tireflys get to be really popular, I will have to find something else.

I haven't looked at them closely, but if they screw on to the Schraeder valve, why couldn't you use Presta/Schraeder adaptor?

By Jove I think he's got it!! But, I shudder to think of the extra weight that would add. The wheel would get thrown off balance
