I'm thinking of building up a no frills round town singlespeed with this wheelset, what're y'all's thoughts on the price, build, quality, etc.? Aren't Suzue basics really unreliable? I won't be skidding on the singlespeed of course, so there won't be too much stress on the hub so it should be fine right?

By the by, I know I'm taking a gamble dealing with bensbikes (I've heard some horror stories on this forum), but I thought I'd ask about the wheels themselves and not the dealer. Any input/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a similar wheelset on my backup bike. Front axle - bent. Spokes - loose. Hub bearings - rough. Threads - OK.

That's after 6 months of really really light riding.

never invest in anything that you must first qualify with a statement like "I won't be skidding on the singlespeed of course, so there won't be too much stress on the hub so it should be fine right?". just buy something that you don't have to worry about, period.

I had a pair. You get what you pay for. They rolled fine but I had some threading issues with EAI cogs and they didnt stay true long.

I definately advocate spending the money on a solid set of wheels. I threw down the money for my deep v's and its paying off hardcore. Suze basics are crap. You're going to end up spending more time and money in the long run replacing them. As was suggested, go with the Formula hubs. IRO is a good bet.
