Today I found my local trail has been lengthened from 10 miles to 15 miles! Now I can do a 30 mile round trip, and still finish it coming down hill! Also today was a major milestone for me. I finally broke the 800 mile mark. I am well on my way to hitting the thousand mile year.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who gave me advice and kept my spirits high when I was having trouble.

Whew, that's a relief. When I read the title of your thread, I thought you were claiming to have ridden 800 miles just TODAY! Let's see, that would only require averaging 33.3 mph for 24 hours. Sure, perfectly doable!

That's awesome - hello 30 mile rides.

I don’t think I could do 33.3 mph down hill with a tail wind. LOL
I may not have done it in one day, but I did it! And now I have my sights on the thousand mile marker just over the next hill.

You need to move to Hawaii - easy to get lots of miles when there is no cold weather!

Ehhh....
As long as the roads are clear of snow/ice and you have the proper clothing, you can still keep a 50-75 mile/wk in the winter - it's just getting motivated and getting out there.
Hands, head/face and feet - take care of those, and you can ride in 0 degree weather in relative comfort.

It's like eating a peppermint patty.... I get the sensation of flying down a hill in January :)

OK, I finally found SOMETHING humorous about Hurricane Katrina.... The above post, followed immediately by the Hurricane Katrina donation link. Sure, the damage and death caused by Katrina aren't funny, but scrolling past the above post and seeing a reference to a hurricane had me rolling! :roflmao:

Maybe I'm just easily amused.... :)
