I am sorry to report that Brian Kennedy was killed last Wed while riding his bent home from work. I wasn't sure where the best place to post this news. But I knew he posted here often. His screen name was Bnet1

Brian and I were neighbors during high school. Lost touch for some 30 years and actually found him here one day. Will deeply miss his friendship.

This appears to have been his last post on BF.

I show horses. Both riding and driving. We have a couple of saddle horses and quite a few miniatures. Cleaning the stalls and handling the hay helps with upper body conditioning which compliments the leg work on the bike. Also being able to quickly read and react to very subtle changes in body language of the horses has increased my level of awareness when on the bike. Perhaps this helps in dealing with traffic. I spent the afternoon reading his posts and I never read one that was negative. A very positive person and was a frequent poster. I will say that he sounded maybe too secure in his belief that he was really more visible than an upright. The accident happened not because the driver didn't see him but was trying to avoid a truck while trying to pass him on the outside. There's an important lesson here. When I'm riding, I try to see what the driver next to me is going through (while passing me) with regard to other traffic because he/she may just make an evasive maneuver and take me out! When cars are trying to pass you on a fast road, things can get ugly real fast if car are coming on the opposite direction.

I wonder if he had a rear view mirror? I also think the fact that he was riding a road where traffic traveled at 50 mph or more was an even greater factor.

Anyway. He appeared to be a good person.

Wow! I am totally in shock. I realize that accidents do happen, but (I know I shouldnt question these things...) why is it always to all the good people in this screwed up world??? Brian was the first one to respond to my very first post in this forum. He followed it up with a couple of interesting stories of his own. I just wish that I lived closer and could have met him. He really seemed like a good person. Always upbeat and enjoying life and his 'bent. Who knows what the driver of the car was thinking too. Brian, you will be missed!!! My sympathy goes out to the family and his friends.
