Howdy,
Did anyone else here ride in the lotoja classic?
xray and I finshed in the 13th hour. 1000 bikes started the race, only 378 finished.
The Lotoja Calassic is the longest USCF sanctioned race, 206 miles.
We started at 6:48am and rode mostly in rain at about 40-45f with about 2-3 hours of snow and 30f's at the higher elevations.
I finshed 11th in our Cat 5 group, xray finshed 2/100 of a second faster than me.

I didn't ride it but I had several team mates ride in it. I missed the registration by 1 day...it really pissed me off. I am definately going next year though!

Howdy,
I survived with you-Howdy and Xray were part of our group. We will not forget that day and no body can ever take it away from us. We trained all year, lots of hard centuries, lots of climbing. 16 out of 17 of us finished. Our DNF had a kidney stone attack. The 5100's rule-Next year Howdy we need to officially shake hands at the Hog Wallow
When it comes down to it-It's All About LOTOJA!

I was one of your friendly neighborhood officials for the race.
It was cold for me, wet for me; but nothing like it was for you guys. I had to check on
several (10's) of riders who looked like they were ready to keel over. We (officials) knew of 37
cases of hypothermia. Since then I've heard of several more cases. Fortunately most riders
were able to dryout, and warmup without any serious problems.

I really felt sorry for all of you who had to descend the 'emigration' canyon (the one before you headed into Montpelier) in the wet and wind. I'm amazed by the numbers of riders who finished after the time cut. We went to get a bite to eat around 10:30pm, and we saw several dozen riders still riding to the finish line. That was either crazy or brave, haven't decided which.

Congratulations to all who finished, in or out of the time cut. This was a truly epic day.

Let me publicly acknowledge you and the rest of the Lotoja officials for a fantastic job, the traffic control, feed zones and support on the course was excellent. Thank a lot for your time and efforts!!!

It was our pleasure. There were very few problems this year. Much of the smoothness should be credited to the promoter and his side of things. See you during the cross season or next year.
