I am shopping around for Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork for my Cannondale Ironman 5000 frame (size 54). From Cannondale website, size 54 ironman 5000's 71.5 degree head tube angle with 43 mm rake Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork creates a trail of 6.7 cm.

I tried to find the same 43 mm rake Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork, however most of the dealers only carry 40 mm rake ones. I was wondering if it is ok to use 40 mm rake instead of 43 mm. Less rake = more trail. I think 40 mm should be fine. Right? I need your little advice here.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

p.s. If I want to get some other brand fork for my ironman 5000, what would be your recommendation?

I notice you noted that you have a frame...not a complete bike - right??
One of my Tri/TT bikes is also a Cannondale Ironman 5000 in a size 54...I Love the bike especially the SI cranks which are the stiffest cranks out there, even stiffer than my Dura Ace 10-speed that I have on 2 other bikes. This bike is very very fast, and at least for me, it fits me perfect. The matching Zipp 404's are very nice too. You can get the same orginal fork if you just ask your dealer to order it for you, if you have a problem contact Big Ring Cycles in Golden, Colorado. Just a question, but why would you want to have another fork?? The Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork is a very quality performance fork.

What a nice looking bike! And I am gonna be riding a similar one soon. :)

Thank you for your information.

I did not know that fork was so critical a bike component until I talked to a mechanic in a local bike shop. Most of the online shops only carry 40 mm rake Reynolds Aero fork.

I did not check with Cannondale dealer, but I am gonna give a try.
