I am going to be in Southern CA for business the week of 9/25 and would like to do the Long Beach tri. My problem? For several reasons, I am unable to ship my bike. Does anyone know of a shop in the area that might rent a road or tri bike? Any help would be appreciated.

The bike shop on campus at UCSD rents road bikes, but its an hour drive. They are only open during the week, but I think they rent out pretty nice bikes.

I just moved up near Long Beach. The local tri shop is called Edge Cyclesport and is located in Laguna. I'm not sure if they rent. Have you tried REI?

What size do you need? Do you prefer a tri or a road bike? Long Beach is a flat, two-lap course with two small "hills" that are really just entrances to the bridge.

PM me if you want and I'll see what I can do to get you hooked up.

Check with the Triathlon Lab (http://triathlonlab.com) - they might be able to hook you up with a rental bike.
