I am upgrading from a hardtail to a full suspension... and I am maining going to be doing XC and some all moutain and I am down to the Yeti AS-R, Yeti 575, or Yeti AS-X or the Cannondale Prophet. Any ideas help for a pick?

The ASX is going to be a lot of bike for what you describe. Definately sounds like overkill.

Of your choices I would pick the 575. All the Yetis ride very nice but I like the 575 the best as an all around bike.

How much are you willing to spend?

If you can lay down 2200$ for just a frame I would say take a look at the Foes Inferno (http://www.foesracing.com/product.cfm?view=inferno) w/the floating rear brake. 2000$ will get the frame with out the float set up. The Inferno is more of an all mountain bike but it can be used for xc. If you want a more XC oriented bike then I would recomend the Foes FXR (http://www.foesracing.com/product.cfm?view=fxr) for 1600$ w/a Fox Float AVA to keep the price down a bit or add a few hundred and get the Curnutt XTD shock.

Those would be my recomendations if ya got the cash (or credit ;) ).

Hey there - so what did you decide? I just got back from a trip to REI and am looking at either the Yeti 575 or the Prophet. I definitely like the ride on the Yeti more than the Prophet. Since I have a Stumpy now, I think I'll check that one out as well before making my decision. But so far the Yeti 575 is HIGH on my list. Also, anyone out there have one - if so what do you like/not like about the bike?

I wish I could hit a trail on the bike before making a decision - 15 minutes on a paved lot doesn't tell me too much.

the prophet is an aweful lot of bike for xc. 5.5 inches of travel is just a little bit too much. it is more of a decender than climber. it has a really slack headtube angle.
