I have a Pinarello Treviso frame thats pretty scratched up but still in pretty good condition. I'd like to fix it up, but I dont really know where to start. Does anyone know where I can find a good fork (im thinking all chrome), or if it is possible to get a Pinarello fork? And what components should i use? Could I find new decals?

It looks similar to this, though I dont know what year exactly:

never rode a pinarello I didn't like. There's a recent thread here that went into some detail about restoring pinarellos. I did one, and I think that ole yeller is in the process or recently completed one. the thread has information about matching touchup paint, etc. The Pinarello frames were regularly sold san parts, so you'll see 'em built with just about everything imaginable. My Montello from the 80's came with six speed dura ace parts, which gradually got converted to 8 speed ultegra through the years. Factory bikes came with Campy, of course. We'd like to see pictures if you can post 'em...

Here's a few pics of my Montello Luker mentioned. Its a 1989 Montello frame. Fork was bent in a race by previous owner so I picked up a used chrome Pinarello fork with dark blue painted crown off ebay. Not sure of the year. I stripped and repainted the crown with the Testors Sapphire Blue metallic paint Luker suggested and it turned out to be a perfect match. Components are a mix of Campy nuovo and super record. Cinelli bar and stem. Concor saddle. Wheels are matrix/shimano 600 from my old Trek 1500.The bike rides great, unfortunately I shattered my tibial plateau at work in March and still cant get a full pedal revolution. I ordered new decals from H LLOYD CYCLES but haven't received them yet. Hope they go on well.

That bike is getting purtier by the minute. Let us know when the decals get here - I'd like to see 'em (not that I'm planning another or anything...)

Thanks for the compliment. I'll be sure to post pics when I get the decals on. Got any helpful tips on applying them? Theres a ridge around where the old ones were like maybe they were clear coated. Its that or old adhesive left behind after they shrunk and flaked off. Did you have this and if so, did you clean it off before you applied yours? Also, did you put anything over your replacement decals to protect them?

The original decals were removed when I got the bike, and the blue paint around the outline of the decals was removed as well - a ghostly pinarello, sort of. I matched the outlines with the new decals as well as I could - which was tough because the transfers were 'burnish on' so the backing paper pretty much hid the location. I had to touch up the paint in several places when I was done. I think that I should have trimmed closer to the decal, in retrospect. I sprayed some Crystal Clear into a cup and then used a brush to apply the clear just to the decals. The decals seemed to suck it up and I put on a couple of coats - it seems to have worked very well to fix them more premanently without the issues that spraying over the area might have had.

Do you have a scanner? I think that mswantak might like a scan of the decals when you get 'em from Lloyds before you apply 'em. I had a brain cramp and didn't scan the sheet that I got before I applied 'em.

hey! there's a pinarello fork just posted on eBay...I can't tell from the pictures but you could ask for another picture of the fork crown to make sure that it is in fact a pinarello. It's red, but what the heck!

I'll be sure to scan the decals before I apply them and send them to mswantak. I spotted that red fork the other day! Tonypc had better jump on it because ebay hasn't had any steel Pinarello forks listed for months. Im still searching for a nice full chrome one to replace the one the bike shop put a dent in since they'll pay for it

What are you guys paying for these decals? What does the set contain? I am in the same boat.

Lloyds sells the decals individually and has a very limited selection. Total cost for 2 downtube, 2 seat tube and the top tube signature decal plus shipping was $32.00. Please note that I have not received the decals yet and dont know if Im getting reproductions or NOS. Luker puchased a full NOS set that I believe cost a whole lot more. I am curious where he got them. Pinarello decals seem to be pretty hard to find. Pity since nearly all the bikes I've seen have the originals flaking off.

Here's another link I ran across after I ordered them from Lloyds: http://universalcyclecentre.co.uk/Decals.htm

UPDATE! I received my decals today in the mail. They are nice vinyl reproductions, not NOS. I sent scans to mswantak as well.

yellowjersey.com. Thought I said that...$95. The set was complete except for the model name on the top tube. He still has a couple of sets left. I'd buy another set, except that they are too darned expensive...

I recently bought one of these '85 Montello's. C record throughout with the exception of the bottom bracket, which is a Phil Wood. Below are a few pictures of the spindle of this bottom bracket, which I believe is mis-sized. Check out the length and see how far the cranks sits from the frame. Does either of yours look like this? Alternatively, what is the spindle length on yours?

ya. you need to spring for a c-record replacement. That looks like a phil triple. Yours is a Montello...we need to see pictures of the rest of the bike. Looks immaculate!

Will do later today. Do you know the required size bottom bracket for this bike?
