What do y'all recommend for training to get ready for the cross season? Would it be worth it to put in some miles running, or would time be better spent on the bike? Road riding? Flats, hills, mountainbiking fireroads? I'd imagine any type of excercise would be beneficial, but what is it that would best prepare someone for first time cross racing?

gonesh9, assuming that you actually are in Portland, Oregon, if you haven't done so already, then I would highly recommend that you attend the cyclocross clinics held at the Alpenrose dairy on Wednesday nights. There are some top riders there that can offer lots of helpful tips on technique and possibly training.
