Well I got bored since everyone had to leave work early, due to computer glitches nothing could ship....so off to the bike shop!!!

Left with a sepcialized Indie saddle and a cateye....TL-LD1000 to be exact.

Well that light is fine and dandy, except for two problems, both related:

1) no belt clip

2) belt clips will not work with it, however the seatpost mounts from about every other model will work with it.

...all of a sudden the power of the buffalo wings kicked in (endorphin rush, WOOT!), and I noticed something....there is a plastic prong that seems to be there for not reason at all on the top of the light's back.

a minute later after using a utility knife on that prong, and it was gone....and VOILA! slides right into the old blet clip I had...allowing me to attatch it to the back of my seatpost bag.

Those belt clips can be special ordered from most LBSs, and some shops might even just give you the clip from a display model. Sadly only the lower end taillights came with this clip. I wish more did, as this thing is really versatile.

That's odd -- the LD1000 I got from Nashbar last week came with a belt clip (as well as two different sizes of seatpost mount). Maybe Cateye recently started or stopped including them?

My LD1000 - from EBay - came with a belt clip as well.

Hmm, that's odd. I remember them not coming with it when it came out.

Maybe that's something they added sometime after it went on the market.

I just remember that their LD600 never came with a clip, at least the two I had before never did.

This is an ancient clip that came with a 3-led sucky $8 model.

I want my money back Cateye. You ripped me off! I payed $72.00 for 2 Plus shipping, When they first introduced The TL-LD1000. I got 1 small and crappy seat post mount.

I will say the lights are one of the brightest I've seen.

The first one I bought when they first hit the US market and others I saw from that time did not have belt clips. The belt clips from older style vista lights fit, as they all are built to fit onto the typical reflector mounting brackets.

The new one I just bought has a nice belt clip included.

The best way the make these lights work anyway is to mount them to the bike so they are horizontal all the time. The belt clip is not as good because it can angle the light up or down or sideways and you lose most of the visibility or brightness when it is tipped.
It looks like a lot more than a 50% loss.

You can make a belt clip easily with the perforated strapping they use for pipe hangers, sold in hardware stores. It's cheap, cover the metal clip with black tape to protect the clothes. Triple or quadruple the layers of the strapping for strength.

Look on the bright side, at least cateye gave you rubber shims this time. ;)
