Has anyone been able to transfer data from the watch to a laptop using the existing IR port on the computer? I've emailed polar and no luck. The current Polar IR tansfer device I have is a com port, which won't work on my new laptop.
Thanks

Be patient, I e-mailed them the other time but they didn't reply ASAP.
As for your question, I can't answer. I'd wish I had a S710 as well. HEHE
Anyway, can you tell me the dimensions of the S710?

I just read that the S710 cannot connect Via an IRDa, which means I'm outta luck until I can get a USB connection on the Polar IR. Me thinks that they have done this for their own evil purposes to seel more interfaces, as if the price tag on the 710 isn't high enough! Anyway, it is a nice tool, I use it for ski touring in the winter when the Altimeter comes in very handy.
As for its size it is about twice the size of an average Timex Ironman watch. I have a Polar Xtrainer Plus for sale....

I currently use the S710.
I purchased the IR uplink cable from Polar.
Using this cable I have no problems with it.
I believe that you need to use this cable and that other IR interfaces will not work.

You can only use an existing IR port under Windows 95...don't ask me why. I was able to get this to work on one of my ancient Toshiba laptops before I picked up the Polar USB IR interface.

Polar does have a USB connection for the interface. My other option would be to but a com to USB adapter, but I believe that they are $50 CD. Problem solved!

I found a friend with a USB interface and he has a com port on his computer so we'll just do a straight up trade!
