i got a used bottecchia road bike for $160. it was fixed up a bit, did i pay a good price? also, can anyone date the bike, or tell me how to? i would like to know when it was made and how good of a bike it is. i couldn't find a serial #.

It appears to be a mid 1970's model DeLuxe. This was Bottechia's bottom of the line model. However, it appears to have upgraded wheels. The wheels normally had nutted hubs with steel rims, but this one has quick release and what appears to be aluminum rims. The bicycle appears to extremely clean, except for the lever hoods (another replacement?). I would adjust the angle of the rear cable hanger until it is in-line with the cable. This will reduce the drag on the cable and make brake operation much smoother.
