I'm sure I'd not pay that much for a second gear---but these hubs are rare---and the price is what they bring---sam

How do you lace these?
There are 20 holes on drive side and 10 on the opposite side??
I don't really know why nobody else has jumped on this boat and made some new ones. I'd buy a 2-speed fixed hub updated with current tech. and materials.

I think the degree of mechanical complexity combined with the extremely small potential audience would result in a hub that costs roughly eight squintillion dollars. Give or take.
Someone on FGG has an adapter which turns SRAM 3-speeds into 2-speed fixed hubs- replaces the pawls with a single machined piece. New Sram 3-speed are pretty cheap, so if the replacement part is reasonable, it could be an option.

I should add that Bikecult(N.Y.?) does a conversion on the old Bendix manuel 2 speeds to make them fixed. Two Bendix manuel 2-speeds are on ebat at present --search under cycling,2 speed ,and you will find the bikes they are on.Or maybe keep and eye out at yard sales for them---sam
The SRAM hack is at:

If anyone contacts mr webster, i'd be interested to hear how much he charges for the machined adapter.

Damn...... we got one of those out of the local junkyard when I was a kid .... bikes built out of parts, and the other kids always got the best ones ..... we often ended up with brakeless freewheel bikes, stop by crashing into a hedge lol.
